Bio:
Chatenay-Malabry (la vallée aux loups) born, Philly raised, Chicago-based artist Cam Beltran has spent the last decade exploring the relationship with their bodymind, family, and the systems fostering these interactions. Cam has digested these interactions through the destruction and reconstruction of their body and loved ones.
Cam is currently a third year graduate student in the Art Therapy program at SAIC providing counseling services to survivors of domestic violence and their families. They work with a variety of materials to unpack the pervasiveness of oppressive systems in their own lived experiences using writing, interactive performance, video, painting, and aquaponics. The works on this website are primarily visual works that Cam has recorded through their process of reflection. Cam continues to write and work in digital art to expand accessibility and their creativity.
Their goal is to continue challenging the systems they work in through educating and collectively reimagining a liberatory future.
